Henry “Ben” Rash, of Lewiston, will celebrate his 90th birthday at a coffee-and-cake open house given in his honor from 1-5 p.m. Saturday at 3811 21st St. in Lewiston.

He was born Dec. 4, 1933, in St. Maries to Melvin and Helen Rash.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He and Margaret “Toby” Cochrane were married Dec. 5, 1956, in Coeur d’Alene.

For about two years, he worked as a railroad telegrapher based in Coeur d’Alene for the Milwaukee Road and then later based in Portland for the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway. He was a relief telegrapher, so he worked all around the Northwest.

The couple and their children moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley in 1975.

He later worked for a number of grain terminals around the Northwest, ending with four years of employment by the Fairfield (Wash.) Grain Terminal. He retired from there in 1995.

His hobbies include golf and traveling.

He has two sons, one daughter and 11 grandchildren. His wife died last year. His children and grandchildren will be hosts for the celebration.
