Ronald L. Andrews, of Soldiers Meadow, was honored Saturday with an open house celebration at the Tap Room in Lewiston. The occasion was his 90th birthday.

He was born May 11, 1934, in Burlington, Colo., to Harry and Valda Andrews.

He moved to Idaho in July 1941, living in Caldwell and Grangeville before moving to Lewiston.

He and Carol R. Cavanaugh were married April 18, 1956, in Lewiston.

Ron worked for Leo Andrews for many years before starting work at Pacific Fruit and Produce in Lewiston when he was 20. He then drove trucks of produce out of California to Pacific Fruit.

In 1974, he started Andrews Truck Service in Lewiston along with his wife and brother, Darrell, and sold the business in 1991. He and Carol went to work for Beamers Hells Canyon Tours in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, retiring in 2001. Then they moved to their home in Soldiers Meadows.

For many years, he and his wife enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, bowling and many other activities. They spent many years traveling around the U.S. in their motorhome, especially enjoying spending winters in Arizona and attending the Pendleton Roundup. He spent many years involved in the Lewis-Clark Sno-Drifters snowmobile club, and was a member of a bowling league, the Moose, the Elks and also was a member of the Eagles for a few years.

He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and his hobbies include working with wood and tools, and making wine.

His wife died in 2022.

He has two sons, three daughters, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
