Trump’s true master
Donald Trump and his Republican flunkies have now alienated so many voters (women, minorities and now seniors) that even keeping their seats in highly gerrymandered districts will not be as easy as they think.
A vast majority of voters, while they may not like Joe Biden, see that a vote for the GOP and Trump is a vote for a party and possible president who would further spread hatred and exclusion whereas the Democrats are promoting inclusion and acceptance.
The writing was on the wall when, at Trump’s behest, Congress killed the bipartisan border bill. Trump was triumphant and told voters to blame the failure on him.
He and the GOP are now trying to again promote the border as chaos because of the Dems even though, to any thinking person, the reverse is obviously true. Plus his lackeys in the House are also trying to help Vladimir Putin by denying aid to Ukraine in order for Trump’s true master to get what he wants.

Passing of two good men
Two men I enjoyed and respected as good educators passed away in the last few months. Fred Schmidt and Jim Poindexter were both born in 1937 and graduated from area high schools that no longer exist.
Fred Schmidt was born and raised in Greencreek, graduated from Greencreek High School and then attended the two-year Lewis-Clark Normal School. He then taught and coached at Deary, Ferdinand and his native Greencreek. He was a kindhearted teacher with a positive attitude with storytelling ability for his students. Fred and wife Karen were both teachers and enjoyed camping where he led singing of songs like “She’ll Be Coming ’Round the Mountain.”
Jim Poindexter lived in Wallace as a boy where he set pins in a bowling alley and delivered newspapers. He moved to Pierce where he was a good basketball player. Like Fred Schmidt, Poindexter attended Lewis-Clark Normal before both graduated from the University of Idaho. He married his high school sweetheart, Kaye Sharon Christal, of Headquarters. He started his career teaching and coaching in Winchester and Reubens and then his alma mater, Pierce.
After 30 years at Clarkston High School as a history teacher, coach, athletic director, vice principal and principal, Poindexter retired. His wife was CHS’s guidance secretary and ASB bookkeeper. After his retirement, Jim and Kaye were honored with a bench outside the CHS entrance in recognition of their service to the school and community.
Way to go, guys from Greencreek and Pierce.
