ASOTIN — Incumbent Commissioner Brian Shinn drew 62% of the votes in his district, compared to 38% for challenger Dennis R. Lenz.

Both Clarkston candidates, who stated no party preference, will now appear on the Nov. 5 ballot, and voters throughout Asotin County will make the final call. Shinn has been a District No. 1 county commissioner since 2011, and Lenz has served as a Clarkston School Board director for two decades. Shinn is a retired business owner and former KRLC radio host. Lenz has worked at the Idaho Transportation Department for 34 years.

Candidate profiles for both contenders will be featured in the Lewiston Tribune prior to the general election.

The primary’s unofficial results will be updated this week as more ballots are counted in the auditor’s office. Updates for all Washington counties can be found online at results.vote.wa.gov.
