Nurse practitioner Victoria Cruz said she’s excited to serve students and staff at Lewis-Clark State College’s Warrior Health following Gritman Medical Center taking over the contract for the health center this summer.

The clinic’s contract was previously held by St. Joseph Medical Center. The change will make it Gritman’s first clinic in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.

Cruz will be serving the LCSC population alongside advanced registered nurse practitioner Lynley James.

Cruz, who grew up in Orofino, is a Warrior alumna. She’s excited to return to campus to provide health care for students and staff.

“I loved my time at LCSC, so it’s just really exciting to come back and see how the campus has changed, just being able to provide this service for students,” Cruz said. “I actually went to nursing school here, so I get to interact with the nursing students, too, which has been a really cool opportunity.”

Warrior Health offers preventative care, routine office visits, care for acute illnesses, routine prescriptions and immunization as well as walk-in visits and birth control.

The center also works closely with the student counseling center for issues including anxiety and depression, Cruz said, and can refer students out to other community resources for additional services such as X-rays or electrocardiogram.

The clinic takes insurance, and also works to provide financial resources to patients who do not have insurance, Cruz said. Appointments are generally available the same day.

“Which is really convenient for all of the students here, because we can usually squeeze them in between classes or find a place that’s going to work best for them,” she said.

Warrior Health is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Sam Glenn Complex in Room 205.
