Vote for Colton Bennett

I had the privilege of serving in the Army with Sgt. Colton Bennett from 2021-22. I was first introduced to him as my team leader and, while he hadn’t been in the Army much longer than I, he took his role seriously and his leadership made my transition from training to regular Army easier.

Shortly after I arrived, our unit was deployed across Europe. During this deployment, I worked with Bennett nearly every day. Bennett consistently showed an unwavering commitment to his duties and responsibilities, whether it was in training exercises, operational missions or day-to-day tasks. His work ethic and professionalism set him apart and he earned the trust and respect of his peers and leaders.

As medics, we were often thrown into stressful situations, and Sgt. Bennett always handled himself with composure and confidence. He openly displayed an eagerness to learn from both the medical providers and Army leadership. Colton embodies the Army values: loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage. His devotion to his country and fellow soldiers is fostered and guided by his relationship with God.

I would strongly encourage you to consider voting for him for state representative Tuesday. Colton Bennett embraces servant leadership and I know that he would prioritize his service to the citizens of Idaho.

My husband is John Roy and he is running for Nez Perce County commissioner.

I am writing this because he has said from Day One that he will run a good, clean and ethical campaign, which he has. However, as his wife, there are some things that I want to bring to the attention of the voters about his opponents.

Every sign my husband has put on private property, he has permission to put it there. Some of his opponents see those signs and just stick one of theirs next to it without asking permission. Two of his opponents are knocking on people’s doors and telling lies about John. The best one so far is that he’s against farmers and ranchers. Come on: He’s from Craigmont and grew up working for farmers and ranchers.

A different opponent is telling people John’s not a real Republican and using an infographic he posted on social media as proof, which is ridiculous. The graphic is about dates to remember for the election.

John’s number one talking point is about, “We need to do better for the citizens of Nez Perce County” and create a better culture within the county government. I think the actions of his opponents highlight the truth of that fact tremendously.

I am very proud of my husband, and I ask you to vote for John Roy for Nez Perce County commissioner Tuesday. Please get out and vote.
