Illegal is illegal

With due respect to the editorial board opinion on illegal immigration into the USA, the elephant in the room that the opinion did not mention was the fact that illegal immigration is “illegal” by law of our land.

Those who come here without permission and circumvent the “legal” immigration processes are committing a crime and are criminals. It begs the question: How many and what other crimes are going to be allowed?

The current president of the United States and his administration have opened our border to well more than 10 million illegal immigrants, coming from all over the world. The problem is that they are not here legally and are unvetted. It is a matter of law, not the economy or feelings.

Please water trees

I tried to reach out by phone but the number for our region has been disconnected, so I am writing publicly.

I understand that the park maintenance for the Army Corps of Engineers parks at Little Goose is managed out of Clarkston Resources. Why aren’t our trees being watered at Texas Rapids and Bryan’s Landing? Why is the grass dead?

I understand these parks are mitigation for the dams to be used by the public. I have lived in the area for more than 50 years and have never seen them look as bad as they do now. I have also volunteered more than a thousand hours doing park maintenance at Lyons Ferry for the Corps.

If you need help, put out the word. Local people love our parks and trees are important for shade and habitat. Some of the trees now dying at Texas Rapids were saved from Central Ferry when it was leveled. I volunteered to help with that project.

It is senseless and heartbreaking when watering once a week would save them.

The fall of democracy

Do you want to know what the fall of democracy feels like?

We already know. Six unelected people (U.S. Supreme Court justices) have control of our country. As if I haven’t already learned this: Our vote does not matter.

Oh yeah. I learned by being a Democrat in Idaho.
