Philip Wayne Malm, of Moscow, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Gritman Medical Center. He was 60.

Phil was born Dec. 13, 1956, along with his twin, Doug, to Carl E. and Margaret M. Lovell Malm. He grew up attending Moscow schools, where he was active in football and wrestling, graduating from Moscow High School in 1975. He then attended the University of Idaho for a time.

Phil enjoyed water skiing, golf, snowmobiling, radio-controlled models and rebuilding a classic 1976 Trans Am. He worked at 49 Degrees North for 15 years as a member of the National Ski Patrol. He also worked as a carpenter on numerous construction projects until his retirement.

Phil and his twin, Doug, married twins Jena and Jill Lassen (Malm) on Aug. 7, 1993, in Twinsburg, Ohio. It was a double-double wedding.

Phil is survived by his wife, Jena, and their son, Timothy, now a student at the University of Idaho; brother and sister-in-law Doug and Jill Malm; and his niece, Rylie, all of Moscow. Also surviving are sisters Kirstin Malm of Moscow, and Karleen Mays and her husband Ken of Tigard, Ore.; aunts Pat Colbeck of Moscow, and Marilyn Sibley and her husband Lud, of Gold Hill, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Randy Malm, in 2004.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Moscow First United Methodist Church with Rev. Debbie Sperry officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Spectrum II Arts and Dance Studio Scholarship Fund, 525 S. Main St., Moscow, ID 83843; Moscow Volunteer Fire Department; or to Samaritan's Purse, www.samaritanspurse.org.
