Arthur W. Watherwax passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at his home in Clarkston. Art was born on Nov. 5, 1945, to his parents, Arthur and Dorothy, in Cleveland. He was joined moments later by his twin sister, Virginia “Ginger.” A few years later, they welcomed another sister, Cathy Dell.

At a young age, the family moved to Dallas, and the children attended school in Dallas. After high school, Art enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for just under four years. He received his honorable discharge in November 1966 (the day before he turned 21) and settled down in Southern California where he was employed by Southern California Edison. He married Kathy Dunson and they had two beautiful daughters, Darcie Ann and Pamela Lee. Their marriage later ended in divorce.

In the late 1970s, Art relocated to the Grand Coulee Dam area and was hired by the Bureau of Reclamation as a power plant operator. It was there he met Lois Flowers. He moved to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley in 1988 and was hired by Bonneville Power Administration as a substation operator. In 1989, Lois, along with her mother and her daughter Brandy Flowers, joined him and made their home in the Clarkston heights. He was employed with BPA until he retired in 2005. After retirement he had the time to pursue all of his many interests. He was a member of the Clarkston Country Club, Quail Ridge Golf Course and Lewiston Gun Club to name a few.

Camping, boating and fishing brought him much joy. Sharing this time with his kids and grandkids meant everything to him. While camping, if the weather turned bad or got too hot he would “round ’em up” and take them to town to the movie theater. He was always up for a good movie and a box or two of candy.

The highlight of the fall was elk hunting in the Blue Mountains with his buddies Frank and Norm. They made many great memories.

Bird hunting was also dear to his heart. He had the best bird dogs, Sammy and Doc. I’m sure he welcomed them with open arms in heaven.

Art also had a quiet side and was an avid reader. He had a very impressive library in his home.

Art is survived by his partner in life, Lois Flowers; daughter Darcie Freeman and husband Vic; daughter Pamela Foster; daughter Brandy Kole and husband Craig; twin sister Virginia “Ginger” Fultz and husband John; sister Cathy Dell Watherwax; nine grandkids: Taylor/Hugo, Corey, Krista, Cassie/Ernesto, Paige, Kenny, Hannah, Peyton and Preslee; five great-grandkids: Alena, Riley, Esme, Nessie and Olive; three aunts: Michelle, Krissy and Sandy; and many nieces and nephews. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Dorothy Watherwax, and grandmother, G.G.

We love you so much and life just isn’t the same without you in it! We are taking good care of your Jazzy Boy. He sure misses you, too.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, June 8, at the Clarkston Event Center, 841 Sixth St., Clarkston. A taco bar will be served. Art was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and a Seattle Mariners fan. He always had something sports related on the television. We invite all attending the celebration of life to please wear your favorite college, pro or high school tee-shirt, jersey or hat. We want to keep it casual.
