BOISE — Tracy Andrus, the middle daughter of late Idaho Gov. Cecil Andrus and president of the Andrus Center for Public Policy, died earlier this week at the age of 68.

Andrus died Tuesday morning. The cause of her death wasn’t announced.

Andrus was involved in various local and statewide public policy issues. The Boise State University graduate was the president of Andrus Center for Public Policy at the time of her death, a position she held since 2014.

Her father was a Democrat who was Idaho’s governor from 1971-77 and 1987-95. He also served as Secretary of the Interior from 1977-81 in the Carter administration. Cecil Andrus and his wife, Carol, had three children, and the family resided in Orofino and Lewiston prior to Andrus’ election as governor.

During her adult career, Tracy Andrus was a small business owner, business consultant and senior vice president for Blue Cross insurance company.

“Tracy was more than a public figure; she was a warm, genuine soul who, like her father Cece, was enthusiastic about improving the future of Idaho. Her impact will be felt far beyond the confines of her earthly presence,” said Emily Wakild, Cecil D. Andrus endowed chairperson for the environment and public lands.
