Every city across the country will be celebrating America’s birthday this week. Many towns will be holding Independence Day events, with some happening nearby.

Clarkston

Day of Fun in Vernon Park

12-4 p.m. Thursday

The free Fourth of July celebration includes face painting, horseshoes, lawn darts and rock painting. The “We All Scream For Ice Cream” scooter will be on hand.

Community Spirit Fireworks Show

10 p.m. Thursday

Adams Field, 401 Chestnut St., Clarkston

The Lewiston-Clarkston Valley’s marquee fireworks display will start at 10 p.m. Thursday. Adams Field will be closed to spectators again this year and there won’t be a preshow concert, according to a news release from American Insurance, one of the major sponsors.

But the fireworks will be launched higher and be larger than in past years “so the show can be more impressive for viewing at a distance,” according to the news release. Organizers have added extra 4-and 5-inch shell fireworks for a brighter, more expansive show that can be viewed from a variety of locations around the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.

Patriotic music to accompany the show will be played on Canyon Country 106.9-FM, The River 105.1-FM, News Talk 95.5-FM and Z-Rock 96.5-FM.

The Twin Rivers Genealogy Society will be sharing the history of several individuals buried at the Normal Hill Cemetery. Presentations this year include the Choates, Joslins, Gibbs, Walkers and Clarks.

Community Band Concert

The Lewis Clark Community Band will perform patriotic music at this event.

The third annual parade in downtown Moscow will celebrate Independence Day.

Pullman

Area residents are invited to bring a lawn chair and enjoy fireworks from the park. Food from the Lumberyard, plus popcorn and candy, will be available. There will be live music from the Community Band of the Palouse, Dan Maher and DJ Goldfinger.

Colfax

July 4th Music and Fireworks Extravaganza

7-10 p.m. Thursday

There will be live music and fireworks at dusk.

Albion

Fourth of July Celebration

The town will be holding a series of events, beginning with a senior breakfast at 345 W. Market St., followed by a parade at 11 a.m. beginning at the LDS church parking lot. Food vendors and the Albion Best Adventures 4-H Club will be serving lunch at the Town Park from 12-4 p.m. Lunch from the club is $8 for adults and $5 for children, all proceeds will go toward the Albion Livestock Supporters.

Elk River

Live music will be played Friday night at Tom’s Tavern and Log Inn. A fireworks show will be held at sunset Saturday evening.

The unincorporated farming town of Johnson will hold its annual parade followed by a fundraiser barbecue at the Whitman County Fire District 12 station on Becker Road.

The annual celebration on the Camas Prairie gets started today with the Family Night rodeo at 6 p.m. Idaho’s oldest rodeo will continue on Thursday and Friday nights; street sports, including the Super Egg Toss, at 9 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday; and parades at 2 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
