While reminiscing about her former employment, Babe Shuss-Heuett sits at the telephone switchboard housed at the Asotin County Museum in Asotin in this Barry Kough photo published in the April 21, 1991, Lewiston Tribune. Shuss-Heuett had worked on it as a telephone operator from about 1944 until the system went to dial in 1957, according to an accompanying Elders series story by reporter Michael Haberman about how the switchboard was to come to life again over the weekend's 50th anniversary of the Asotin County Fair in Asotin. "From its home (at the museum), it (the switchboard) will connect old crank telephones in the main museum and the schoolhouse and pioneer house on the museum grounds."
