Patrick was emergency coordinator for the Lewiston area and a member of both the Lewiston-Clarkston Amateur Radio Club and the American Radio Relay League Communication Corps. He and other ham radio operators were featured in a Tribune story about how the radio club members would jump in to help by acting as relay points for information to be passed around the region and even the country in the event of a major emergency, such as flood, fire or civil defense.
