Tropical Weather-Pacific for Thursday, August 29, 2024
_____
Eastern Pacific:
Gilma and Hector moving westward
Hone continues moving west-northwestward farther away from the Hawaiian Islands, and will no longer impact land. Hone will remain a tropical storm through Friday before losing wind intensity and
becoming a tropical depression and then a tropical rainstorm this weekend.
Gilma is losing wind intensity over the open waters of the Pacific. The storm is expected to pass by to the north of the Hawaiian Islands as a tropical rainstorm late this week. If the storm moves
farther south, there can be enhanced showers and locally gusty winds across portions of Hawaii later this week. Regardless of the exact track, rough surf and strong rip currents can occur later this
week across portions of the Hawaiian coastlines.
Hector continues westward over the open waters of the Pacific. Hector may lose all tropical characteristics entirely before approaching Hawaii. However, the storm can bring enhanced shower
activity to Hawaii later this weekend and into early next week.
Otherwise, no other tropical development is expected in the eastern Pacific over the next seven days.
Western Pacific:
There is no Western Pacific tropical discussion at this time.
Southern Pacific:
No new information for this time period.
