The Washington State Patrol released the girl’s name Wednesday, saying Kirsten P. Phillips died at the scene, and her family has been notified by the Asotin County coroner.

According to WSP, the girl’s red Honda Civic crossed the centerline about 3 miles south of Clarkston, between Critchfield Road and 13th Street. The wreck occurred around 1 a.m. Tuesday, and drugs and alcohol were not factors, police said.

The car collided with a Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Hayden Deeds, 25, of Lewiston. He was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, according to WSP.

Phillips was a member of the Clarkston High School softball team that recently competed at the state tournament. Friends and family have been placing flowers at the scene of the crash over the past two days.
