SANDPOINT — The Lewis-Clark Twins ran their North Idaho League unbeaten streak to nine games with a 6-5 triumph over the Sandpoint Lakers in the opener of an American Legion baseball doubleheader on Tuesday.

The Twins couldn’t match their success in the second game, however, and wound up on the losing end of a 3-2 decision.

L-C, now 9-1 in NIL play and 23-12 overall, got solid pitching performances in both outings: Mark Storey tossed a six-hitter over 63 innings in the opener, and Jeremy Feucht allowed just four hits in a complete-game effort in the nightcap.

Unlike Storey, though, Feucht didn’t get the run support he needed to earn the victory.

ASOTIN — The much-anticipated opening of the Asotin County Aquatic Center is still a question mark on the calendar.

County officials say they’re shooting for a July 17 debut, but the first plunge down the slides hinges on when the pools are filled with water and lifeguards are fully trained on each feature.

The county commissioners seemed agreeable Tuesday to letting folks use their summer passes at the indoor pools this year to make up for the delayed opening. The indoor portion of the aquatic center is slated to open in mid October.
