The Westmont Warriors are departing the NAIA in style after beating Lewis-Clark State in the championship game of the organization's baseball World Series on Friday night at Harris Field in Lewiston.

The California Warriors claimed a 7-6 victory over the Idaho Warriors in front of 4,498 spectators in a competitive but sloppy title game.

Westmont, which will move to the NCAA next year, pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eight. The run came on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Parker O'Neil.

LCSC got a runner on base in the top of the ninth, but couldn't bring him home.

Westmont again showed its knack for taking advantage of its opponent's mistakes when it scored in the eighth. Robbie Haw reach base on a throwing error and advanced to second. LCSC then intentionally walked Ryan DeSaegher to set up a force out, but the next two batters drew walks, the second of which, drawn by O'Neil, scored the deciding run.

Both teams appeared a bit tense defensively as they committed a combined eight errors -- five on LCSC and three on Westmont. LCSC committed two errors on a Bryce McFeely grounder to the mound in the sixth, allowing McFeely to scramble all the way home and score.

Both teams also missed scoring chances, with LCSC stranding 12 baserunners and Westmont leaving 11 men on base.
