GRANGEVILLE — After several hours of deliberation Thursday night and this morning a jury of six men and six women found Jessica L. Colpitts guilty of first-degree murder in the May 22, 2017 shooting death of Samantha S. Fignani, both of Orofino.

The jury announced its decision shortly after 1 p.m. today. Colpitts, 34, appeared stoic as the verdict was read, although she was in tears as she left the courtroom with her attorney, Mark Monson of Moscow. About four family members, including her mother, wept quietly in the courtroom as the verdict was read.

Second District Judge Gregory FitzMaurice revoked bail for Colpitts, ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for July 9 in Clearwater County. Colpitts will be held at the Latah County Jail until that date, FitzMaurice said.
