BUFFALO EDDY — Search crews are combing the Snake River and shoreline south of Asotin after a 19-year-old Lewiston woman was reported missing Thursday morning.
According to the Asotin County Sheriff’s Office, Elizabeth “Liz” Krueger was camping with friends at Buffalo Eddy when she disappeared sometime during the night.
The group realized she was missing when they woke up and began contacting her family and friends, hoping someone knew where she was. Her cellphone and belongings were still on the beach.
Sheriff John Hilderbrand, the incident commander, is on a patrol boat at the scene, and deputies are searching the areas around the swift-moving water. A cadaver dog is also on the scene, looking through bushes near the beach.
Detective Jackie Nichols said, at this point, foul play is not suspected, but the case remains under active investigation and “nothing has been ruled out or ruled in.”
Friends and family members arrived throughout the afternoon to help with the search, along with young people who saw a Facebook post about the missing woman. Members of the Asotin County Search and Rescue team are assisting, and the sheriff’s office is using a drone to scan both sides of the river.
Krueger was wearing pink bikini bottoms, a black top and a floral coverup. She is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds.
