Lapwai senior Kase Wynott broke the Idaho boys basketball all-time career points record in a game against Clearwater Valley tonight on his home court.

The Utah State commit scored the points needed with 7:47 left in the second quarter. Chris Bohnee got an offensive rebound after a missed 3-point attempt by Vincent Kipp and passed it to Wynott, who caught it in the air for the layup, giving him 2,590 points.

The record of 2,589 points was previously held by Jared Mercer of Kamiah, set in 1993.

Wynott’s has been terrorizing the court all year. He had a record-breaking game against Genesee last Friday where he notched a triple-double of 68-points, 10 assists and 15 rebounds, which broke the single-game scoring record for an Idaho prep player.

Before the start of tonight’s game, Wynott led the nation in scoring at 593 points (37.4 per game) and assists (9.1 per game). He is averaging 14.6 rebounds per game and has 10 triple-doubles so far this season.
