TESAR, THOMAS PLACE HIGH FOR VANDALS AT BSC MEET

BOISE Idaho's Tanya Tesar placed second in the heptathlon and the Vandals' Rob Thomas finished third in the decathlon on Thursday at the Big Sky Conference meet.

Tesar, a sophomore, placed second behind Aimee Anthony of Northern Arizona. Anthony scored 5,111 points while Tesar finished 145 points behind with 4,966 points. The Vandals also received a fifth-place finish from Sheri Marlatt and are currently tied with Northern Arizona for the lead with 10 points after one event.

Thomas, who was fifth after the first day, made up ground by winning the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:34.59 and placing third in the pole vault and the 110 high hurdles. Thomas finished with 7,022 points while Billy Schuffenhaur of Weber State won the event with 7,320 points. Enoch Borozinski of Nevada placed second with 7,232 points.
