A familiar name picked up the latest Prep Athlete of the Week award.
Jack Nygaard, a 6-foot-1 senior from Kamiah, has been the featured player for the Kubs for some time, including last year's run to the state playoffs.
"Jack just is a kid that can score baskets and be consistent from night to night," Kamiah coach Ryan Ball said. "He can put down 20 (points) on just about every night."
Nygaard has started all four years of his high school career on the varsity squad at Kamiah.
Ball referred to the proficient jump-shooter as a "coach on the basketball floor."
Nygaard most recently poured in 19 points against a tough Nezperce squad as well as 21 points against Orofino in an Idaho 2A District I-II playoff game. The Kubs will tangle with Grangeville tonight at 8 at their home gym.
"I think he has goals to get to the state tournament and succeed down there," Ball said. "He's a good leader and he does the right things for the program."
