SEATTLE - Jaylen Nowell scored 25 points, Matisse Thybulle added 18 - each scoring 14 in the second half - and Washington held off Boise State 77-74 on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT.

The Huskies (21-12) will play Saint Mary's (29-5) in the second round.

Thybulle, a junior who is already Washington's career steals leader, moved into third - behind Jason Kidd and Gary Payton - on the Pac-12's single-season list with 97.

Stanford 86, BYU 83 -At Stanford, Calif., Reid Travis scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Michael Humphrey added 11 and 14 and Stanford topped BYU on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT.

Mississippi State 66, Nebraska 59 - At Starkville, Miss., Aric Holman had 16 points and 10 rebounds for his seventh double-double of the season, Lamar Peters was four assists shy of a NIT record with a career-high 14 and Mississippi State won its first post-season game since 2010 with a victory over Nebraska on Wednesday night in the first round.

Utah 69, UC Davis 59 - At Salt Lake City, Justin Bibbins scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half, Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak was ejected in the first half and the Utes overcame an 11-point deficit to beat UC Davis on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT.

Penn State 63, Temple 57 - At University Park, Pa., Josh Reaves had his second career double-double, Shep Garner hit two 3-pointers in the final three minutes and Penn State overcame an 11-point second-half deficit to beat Temple on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT.

LSU 84, Louisiana-Lafayette 76 - At Baton Rouge, La., Duop Reath shot 10 of 14 from the field and finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and two steals to help LSU beat Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT.

Marquette 67, Harvard 60 - At Milwaukee, Markus Howard scored 22 points, and Marquette held on to beat Harvard on Wednesday night in the first round of the NIT despite three turnovers in the final minute.
