MOSCOW - At just 5 feet, 4 inches, it's not uncommon for Karlee Wilson to be the smallest player on the basketball court. Still, she's capable of having the biggest impact, as was the case in Idaho's 75-50 rout of Montana in a Big Sky Conference matchup Saturday at the Kibbie Dome.
The senior point guard and Lewiston High product had a game-high 18 points, six assists, five rebounds (three offensive) and five steals in a masterful performance on both ends of the floor. She shot 6-of-11 from the field and 3-of-5 from 3-point range while playing pestering defense without recording a foul in 29 minutes of action.
"Definitely one of her best games. She really took it and sparked us tonight," Idaho coach Jon Newlee said. "Her defense was fantastic. It was great out in Missoula, too, pressuring the heck out of those point guards and really causing disruption in their whole offensive scheme."
Idaho (10-10, 5-4) scored 18 of its 32 paint points in the first half and led 35-31 at halftime. The Grizzlies (3-18, 0-10) - losers of their last 12 games - shot just 36.8 percent from the field, drew only four fouls and shot just three free throws.
Geraldine McCorkell finished with 16 points and Taylor Pierce added 10 for the Vandals, who had 19 points off turnovers and outscored the visitors 40-19 in the second half.
