COEUR D'ALENE - The Lewis-Clark Twins will try to extend their recent momentum today when they kick off play in the Idaho state AA Legion baseball tournament at Thorco Field.
The Twins (28-22), top-seeded from Area A, face the Nampa Chiefs (23-9) at 10 a.m. in the first of four games today. Nampa is the No. 3 team from Area B.
Lewis-Clark finished strongly in its district tournament last weekend, defeating the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen 12-7 in the championship game. The previous day, the Twins erased a seven-run deficit and nipped Northern Lakes 8-7 in 11 innings.
Coeur d'Alene (30-20), the host team, plays the Meridian Rangers (22-13) in the showcase game at 7:30 p.m.
In between, the Boise Capitals (32-11) play the Pocatello Runnin' Rebels (34-13), and the Boise Gems (25-16) face the Twin Falls Cowboys (34-17).

Connor Stamper took the mound in relief and allowed only two hits in 52/3 innings as Lewis-Clark downed Kelso in the Pacific Northwest Babe Ruth tournament for 14-year-olds at Harris Field.
Blaise Stottlemyer collected two hits and two RBI as Lewis-Clark improved to 2-0 in pool play, matching the record of pool opponent Glacier, Mont., which beat Twin Cities of the Centralia, Wash., area 9-7.
In the other pool, Lovell Dunmire fired a five-inning no-hitter as Hazel Dell Metro beat Central Idaho of Orofino 15-0 to push its record to 3-0. Klamath Falls, Ore., is 2-0 in that pool.
Mt. Vernon, Wash., beat Calgary, Alberta, 8-1 in the other game.
As pool-play continues today, it's Glacier vs. West Linn, Ore., at 9 a.m.; Klamath Falls vs. Mt. Vernon at noon; Central Idaho vs. Calgary at 3 p.m.; and Lewis-Clark vs. Twin Cities at 6 p.m.

LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL
Lewiston 11, Alaska 4
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Karli Taylor homered on the second pitch of the game as Lewiston defeated a team from Anchorage, Alaska, in the 12-and-under Little League West Regional softball tournament.
Samantha Mader pitched all six innings for Lewiston and got strong defensive support from infielders Jennika Ortiz and Parker Foster and catcher Maddie Sorenson.
Lewiston improved to 1-2 in the tournament and faces the Utah qualifier at 7:30 tonight.
