In the opening game, Schwartz served nine straight points. Kianna Sablan added eight kills with three aces and Shay Kuykendall added six kills, four aces and 16 assists.
"Our kids played pretty well tonight," said Orofino coach Shannon Erbst, who noted that sometimes it's tough to get up emotionally for a game before the school year officially starts.
"We don't start until Monday, so the intensity level isn't as high - the gym's not filled with screaming fans - so the kids have to build their own intensity... and overall I was pretty proud of them."
