JULIAETTA - Mickey Brown broke a tie in the fifth inning of a nonleague contest with a three-run homer to propel Kendrick to a 10-5 victory over Troy on Monday night in prep baseball.

Brown led the Tigers' offense with four RBI, and Dakota Callahan tallied two RBI and four steals without recording a base hit.

Kendrick will face Grangeville on Thursday as Central Idaho League play continues.

The Kendrick golf team, in its second year of competition, claimed its first victory of the season, squeaking past a Lewiston subvarsity squad by a single stroke in a three-team match that included Orofino at Bryden Canyon Golf Course.

Kendrick's Austin Hall turned in an 80 for the lowest score.

Weather conditions were the early concern, but the true challenge turned out to be putting on the recently plugged greens.

"We had a good showing," Kendrick coach Scott Hall said. "The greens were pretty rough, but I thought our guys did a great job."

Team scores - Kendrick 349, Lewiston JV II 350, Orofino 437.

Medalist - Austin Hall, Kendrick, 80.
