Lewiston throwers gain Senior Games glory

Bruce Brotnov and Will Godfrey of Lewiston took home a combined eight medals from the Idaho Senior Games held at Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa earlier this month.

Competing in the 80-to-84-year-old age group, Brotnov clinched two gold (javelin, hammer), one silver (discus) and three bronze medals (football throw, softball throw, shotput).

Godfrey continued his winning ways in the 85-to-89 division with gold in the discus and shot put. Both Godfrey and Brotnov have qualified to represent Idaho at the 2025 National Senior Games in Des Moines, lowa.

Northwest team rates at global event

The Northwest Wado-ryu Karate competition team from Moscow fielded 17 athletes who totaled 14 medals between them in the WIKF Global Cup held Sept. 10-15 in Greenville, S.C.

The team, which garnered one gold, three silver and 10 bronze medals, intends to compete again at the 2026 WIKF Global Cup in Athens, Greece.
