The Grangeville-based Camas Prairie Zephyrs scored back-to-back wins to lead area teams in Clancy Ellis Tournament baseball action at Harris Field on Friday.

Camas Prairie routed the Moscow Blue Devils 14-0 in five innings, then rallied past the Nampa Braves for an 8-6 victory courtesy of a five-run output in the top of the seventh.

Noah Behler pitched throughout the win over Moscow, conceding only two base hits. Carter Shears headed up the offense for the Zephyrs (12-9-1), batting 4-for-4 with a double and five RBI, and Eli Hinds added another three hits with a triple plus four RBI. Shears was back at it with two hits including a double against Gooding, and teammate Taven Ebert matched that batting performance.

The Pullman Patriots AA team earned its own win against the Blue Devils (6-29), coming out on top 11-7, but fell 6-5 to the Diamondbacks in an eight-inning heartbreaker. Will Denney and Cash McCann notched two hits apiece for Pullman (9-15) in the win against Moscow, while Dawson Lobdell and Aslan Burt did the same in the losing effort against Gooding.

The Lewis-Clark Cubs could not get the bats going in a 5-2 loss to the Diamondbacks. Isaiah Raines threw a complete game for Lewis-Clark (7-23-1) and gave up five runs with only one earned. He allowed two hits and three walks while striking out 11.

In other Clancy Ellis action, the Orofino Merchants were only able to muster one run — a double from Lane Turcott — in a 5-1 loss to Tribal Legion of Buhl, Idaho. Pitcher Aiden Olive of Orofino (13-8) settled in after a rough first inning, going six and striking out three.

SPOKANE VALLEY — The Asotin County Blues and Billings Cardinals were unable to decide a winner on schedule and did not go into extra innings, recording a tie in the Spokane Wood Bat Classic.

Asotin County (14-2-2) trailed 3-0 after four innings. With one out in the fifth and the bases loaded, Morgan Bunch lined a single to center to drive in two runs. Sam Hall followed up with a game-tying RBI single.

Hall kept Billings off the board in the final two innings.

Bunch was in scoring position in the bottom of the seventh, but was caught attempting to steal third.

Bucs boast wins

SPOKANE — The Lewis-Clark Bucs picked up back-to-back wins, blitzing Ferris of Spokane 14-2 before surging late to top Walla Walla 15-9.

Carson Henson pitched all four innings and made a team-high two hits before the Bucs (16-8-1) prevailed by mercy rule against Ferris. Landon Ortiz notched two hits including a triple to lead Lewis-Clark at bat against Walla Walla in a game which saw the Bucs trail 2-1 through four innings, but pour in several runs apiece over the last three frames. Kendry Gimlin was a notable contributor to the L-C offense in both outings, doubling in the first game and putting up another two hits in the second.

Lewis-Clark Twins drop a pair

SPOKANE — The Lewis-Clark Twins lost to Webber Acadamy 8-4 and then fell short of a comeback attempt to the Northwest 509 Stars 7-5 in the Spokane Wood Bat Classic on Friday.

Lewis-Clark (13-15) had a 4-2 advantage over the Wildcats going into the seventh inning, but Webber Academy answered with a six-run inning to take the win.

Levi Anderson went six innings and struck out 10, but with 106 pitches was unable to complete the game.

The Twins trailed by six runs after five innings against the Stars. Lewis-Clark scored four times in the sixth inning, including twice times on bases loaded walks, but the Twins left the tying run at first.

Kyson Barden had three hits on the day for the Twins, all of them doubles.

Full stats for the Webber game were unavailable.

SPOKANE — The Pullman Patriots AAA pushed Bellingham Post to extra innings before taking a 4-3 loss at Shadle Park High School.

Dan Bell singled with one out in the seventh inning to knock in Isaac Pagels for Pullman (11-17) to tie the game at three.

Bellingham put up a run in the top of the eighth inning. Pullman loaded the bases with two outs, but were unable to score.

Kaleb Humphreys threw 99 pitches over seven innings of work for the Patriots.
