Idaho quarterback Gevani McCoy signed with Equity Sports for name, image and likeness representation, the agency announced via social media on Tuesday.

The Jerry Rice Award winning quarterback joins South Carolina gun slinger Spencer Rattler and University of Washington players Carson Bruener, Delvin Culp, Rome Odunze and Cal Poly player Sam Huard.

According to Equity Sports’ website, it’s a full-service athlete representation, marketing and consulting firm located in Los Angeles with satellite offices throughout the U.S.

The company represents professional and collegiate athletes across multiple sports including football, baseball and basketball.

Chris Cabott, the CEO of Equity Sports, negotiated Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year $450 million extension with the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2020.

McCoy is the first UI athlete to ink an NIL deal with an agency separate from the university. The details of McCoy’s NIL deal were not available at press time.

Vandals sign transfer guard

Kennedy Johnson, a 5-foot-11 guard from University of California Santa Barbara, will join the Idaho Vandals for her junior season, it was announced.

The transfer appeared in 30 games and started in three for the Gauchos last season, averaging 12.1 minutes and scoring 3.5 points per game. Johnson scored 105 points, shooting 41.6% (42-101) from the field and 94.4% (17-18) from the line. She had a career-high 16 points in a Gaucho win over Stanislaus State, going 66.7% from the field and beyond the arc as well as 100% from the free-throw line.

Johnson attended Bishop O’Dowd High School in Oakland, Calif.

“Kennedy is an explosive athlete and will add some more size for us at the guard spot,” Idaho coach Carrie Eighmey said in a news release. “She’s a great rebounder and will provide much needed aggressiveness and physicality on the offensive glass. Her burst allows her to steal points in transition and get to the rim in the half court.”
