Pullman downed 2A Greater Spokane League foe Clarkston in a cross country dual on Wednesday at Clarkston High School.

The Greyhounds took the first 14 places in the boys 5,000-meter run and the first six places in the girls 5,000-meter run.

Senior Leonardo Hoffman was the first-place runner for the boys with a time of 18 minutes, 19.44 seconds. It was almost a minute faster than his teammate Blake Dobbins’ second-place time of 19:13.09.

Junior Shahad Akasha won the girls 5k with a mark of 21:31.16 — a minute and a half faster than the second-place time of 23:04.11 ran by Pullman’s Ada Harris.

Tigers tame Mustangs

KENDRICK — The Tigers managed to down Whitepine League Division II foe Deary (6-3, 5-1) in four sets.

The set scores were 25-14, 25-17, 20-25, 25-10.

Hailey Taylor led the way with 18 digs and nine kills. Hayden Kimberling was 18-for-18 at the service line for Kendrick (8-4, 6-0). Ruby Stewart added 21 assists.

Kamiah outlasts Grangeville

KAMIAH — The Kubs escaped a four set battle against the Bulldogs (1-6).

The set scores were 25-22, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18.

Laney Landmark had a double double for Kamiah (10-1), notching 14 kills and 22 digs. Karlee Skinner added eight kills and three blocks.

Eagles soar past Spokane Athletic Co-Op

SPOKANE — Pullman Christian notched a four-set victory over Spokane Athletic Co-op.

The set scores were 21-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-20.

Anna Fitzgerald had 10 of Pullman Christian’s (4-4, 1-4) 28 kills. Elizabeth Fitzgerald had six kills and Braeley Olson, Falon Mader and Lydia Carrier added three kills apiece. Sophia Cofer served at a 100% clip for the Eagles.

“The team worked very hard together strategically planning how to win each point,” Pullman Christian coach Sara Mader said. “Overall team errors were down from prior play and team communication was noticeably improved.”

COLLEGE WOMEN’S SOCCER

Idaho 1, Weber State 1

MOSCOW — Idaho tied with Weber State in its Big Sky Conference opener.

Weber State (0-6-2, 0-0-1) scored first courtesy of a Grace Kirby goal in the 66th minute. Idaho (5-2-2, 0-0-1) responded eight minutes later in the 74th with a score by Hannah Alfaro.

The Vandals outshot the Wildcats 13-6 and saved three shots.

Liya Brooks called up for Olympic qualifiers

Washington State’s goalkeeper Liya Brooks was called up to the Jamaican women’s soccer team for its upcoming Olympic qualifying matches against Canada.

This is Brooks’ third call up to the senior team after being on the roster for the 2023 women’s World Cup this past summer.

Jamiaca will play a two-game playoff series against Canada. The first match will be played Friday at Independence Park in Kingstonm Jamaica and the second will be played Tuesday in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Pullman earns win at Selah Invite

SELAH, Wash — The Greyhounds notched a first place finish with 88 team points at the Selah Invite.

The host school finished second overall with 44 points.

Team scores — 1. Pullman 88; 2. Selah 44; 3. Prosser 17; 4. East Valley 14; 5. Grand Valley 7.
