Mikel Jensen went the distance, conceding four hits in seven innings and Lewis-Clark’s starter got just enough from his offense to pick up a nonleague win at Harris Field.
The Twins defeated Walla Walla 3-2 to improve to 23-22 on the year.
Jensen, who was part of the rotation that led Lewiston High to the Idaho Class 5A championship game this spring, allowed Walla Walla a pair of runs in the second inning, but nothing after that.
“He shut it down ... got out of the inning and didn’t give up a run after that,” Twins coach Allen Balmer said.
The Twins posted one run in each the first, second and fourth inning, getting plenty of offense from catcher Jessup Scott, who had three of their nine hits, including one double.
With its league campaign wrapped up, L-C will play host to the Northwest Bandits in a nonleague contest at 5 p.m. today.

G. Prep 8, Asotin County 7
SPOKANE — Gonzaga Prep scored four unanswered runs midway through its contest against Asotin County and used that surge to down the Blues during play in the Spokane League Class AA tournament at Jackson Field.
With the loss, the Blues moved into a loser-out contest today against an opponent to be determined at 2 p.m today. The winner of that contest will go to State.
The Blues tallied 13 hits, but coach Mike Madrid felt like his team failed to capitalize on its baserunners.
During the final frame, Asotin County loaded the bases with nobody out, “but we just couldn’t get it done,” Madrid added, noting that he felt like his team “gave the game away,” by ceding too many unearned runs.
“I wouldn’t mind playing those guys again, and I don’t think our guys would either.”
One bright spot for the Blues, Madrid felt, was his team’s relief pitching by Blake Rimmelspacher, who “threw like an ace.”
“I’m still happy with where we’re at, we’ve just gotta make plays.”
