Dalton Stamper limited the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen with 10 strikeouts in the nightcap and the Twins swept their American Legion Baseball doubleheader at home Monday. L-C won the first game 3-2 before claiming the second game 5-2.
"He threw a couple bad pitches," Twins coach Allen Balmer admitted, "but it was hard for them to score runs."
Austen Jones threw a complete game in the first, keeping the Lums "off balance with his speed. He made pitches when he had to."
The Twins, who improve to 9-6, were led at bat by Chandler Tibbits, who had three RBI and four hits on the night, including two doubles and a triple.
"We made the plays we had to make," Balmer said, noting that it was a good day for pitching and defense.
The Twins will play host to Lakeland today in a doubleheader.

MOSCOW - The Lewis-Clark Cubs swept their doubleheader here against Moscow in American Legion Play, bumping their record to 9-2.
Julian Washburn had a complete first game for the hosts with seven strikeouts and two walks.
"We had a good pitching performance from Washburn," Cubs coach Casey Edelbrock said.
"Just an all around good performance from that first game."
Layton Wallace, who pitched two innings in the second game, added three RBI on the day. Wallace added a double in the sixth inning of the nightcap, which drove in Lewiston's final run.
"Our bullpen really dominated the hitters of Moscow," Edelbrock said of his lineup on the mound in the second game: Five Cub pitchers kept Moscow to three hits.
The Cubs will participate in the Palouse Summer Series Tournament in Pullman, opening play on Friday and continuing on through Sunday.

Harris Field to play host to Area Code tryouts
Less than three weeks after hosting the Avista-NAIA World Series, Harris Field will hold another baseball event: the 2015 Area Code Baseball Tryouts.
The event, which determines which high school players from the Pacific Northwest will compete at this year's Area Code Games, takes place Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m. on the Lewis-Clark State College campus. It is one of 20 invitation-only tryouts happening around the country this summer.
Created nearly 30 years ago, the Area Code Games bring the top prep players in the country together in one location, giving them a chance to display their skills in front of college coaches and professional scouts. This year's tournament takes place Aug. 4-11 in Long Beach, Calif.
Approximately 250 players will compete at the Games as a member of one of eight regional teams, each of which is sponsored by a Major League club. The Kansas City Royals, for instance, sponsor the Pacific Northwest team.
The rosters of the teams competing at the Games are determined during tryouts, like the one taking place at Harris Field on Wednesday. Invitations to tryouts are sent to nearly 3,000 high school players from the classes of 2016, '17 and '18 based on recommendations from Major League scouts and the Major League Scouting Bureau. Players from Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Montana will contend for one of approximately 30 roster spots on the Pacific Northwest team.

Four Cougars Named To Athlon's Preseason All-Pac-12 Teams
PULLMAN - Four Washington State Cougars were placed on the 2015 Preseason All-Pac-12 Team by Athlon Sports, the magazine released recently.
Redshirt-senior left tackle Joe Dahl led the way earning second-team honors while junior wideout River Cracraft was placed on the third team and redshirt-junior wide receiver Gabe Marks and senior rush linebacker Kache Palacio were both placed on the fourth team.
Dahl earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention last season after starting all 12 games at left tackle for the nation's top passing offense. The Spokane native surrendered just one sack in the Cougars' Pac-12 record 771 pass attempts and earned the WSU "Bone" Award (given to the team's best offensive lineman each week) a team-best six times last season.
Cracraft finished last season seventh in the Pac-12 with eight touchdown catches, ninth with 66 receptions and tenth with 771 receiving yards in just nine games.
Marks redshirted the 2014 season after leading the Cougars in receptions (74) and receiving yards (807) as a sophomore in 2013. Palacio started all 12 games last season and finished second on the team with 9.5 tackles-for-loss including a team-best 6.5 sacks, tied for No. 12 in the conference.

WSU's Watson Named First Team All-America
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Jordan Watson, a member of Washington State University women's rowing team, has been named to the 2015 Pocock All-American First Team, while teammate Nicole Hare was included on the second team.
Watson and Hare both concluded their third seasons with the Cougars, Watson's second with the varsity team and Hare's third with the varsity squad. Both rowed with the varsity eight crew this season, leading their crew to a ninth-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Championships and an eighth-place team finish, which marked the best since 2008's eighth-place finish.
Watson, a native of Victoria, B.C., becomes just the fifth Cougar to receive the Pocock All-America First Team Award.
Hare earns her second-straight second team nod, and is the ninth Cougar rower to be named to the team for the 12th time.
