PULLMAN - The Cougar men's basketball team reached the century mark.

And it needed most of those points to hold off Cal State Northridge in a nonleague shootout on Tuesday at Beasley Coliseum.

WSU won 103-94.

Freshman CJ Elleby's double-double (23 points and 11 rebounds) powered the Cougars while Robert Franks poured in 22 points and closed the door on the Matadors.

The visitors (1-4) pulled within eight with just under a minute left, a far cry from the 18-point hole they sat in at the half.

But Franks responded by hitting two free throws, then capping things off with a steal and layup to effectively seal CSN's fourth straight defeat despite a game-high 32 points from the Matadors' Lamine Diane.

After playing much of the second half with four fouls, Diane fouled out with several minutes left.

And in the closing seconds, Ahmed Ali scored a layin to put the Cougars (4-1) in triple digits in regulation for the first time since 2002.
