No common courtesy

This letter is directed toward Marc Johnson. His Aug. 25 column in the Lewiston Tribune about the late Steve Symms is typical of his GOP-bashing comments.

As information, Marc, Democrats have also been known to be cheaters and have affairs. A prominent one just spoke at the Democratic National Convention.

As far as Steve Symms being a politician and being able to walk into a room and charm a crowd, your boss was noted for the same thing. Perhaps since you now live in Oregon, worry about the politics in your state.

No matter what your feelings are toward a person, after he has passed, common courtesy and class would be to keep your comments to yourself. Those are two things you lack.

Making his point

On Aug. 24, Danny Radakovich reacted to my mentioning him in a letter.

He started by writing, “Barnett is making it too easy for me.”

A good start — a simple declarative sentence. Rare for you, but appreciated. His goal? The hapless reader knows only that it is “... too easy.”

Immediately after stating that accomplishing his goal will be “easy,” he embarked on a side trip: “It reminds me of the time I cross-examined a husband and wife from Elk City in a little criminal case. Well, that is a different story for a different day.” A dreary obfuscation that had no bearing whatsoever on his point; he admitted it’s a “different story.”

The Elk City reference simply showed how he earned the moniker “Yack-yack” (by continuous yacking), and reminded readers that “I am an attorney.” (Double-Y knows that the three most “respected” occupations are politician, auto sales and ambulance chaser.)

“Yack-yack” also mentioned Donald Trump, another pointless digression.

In the spirit of Christian charity I will make his point for him: He was insulted that I called him one of the Tribune’s “favorite puppets.”

To clarify, a puppet is someone who can be depended on to regurgitate political blather on command. Comprende?
