How to explain?

Now that Louisiana has a law mandating that the Ten Commandments must be displayed in K-12 classrooms, I wonder if teachers will be fired for explaining “adultery” to inquisitive students.

Cindy Agidius’ commentary in the June 9 Tribune was correct. Referencing the November election, she wrote, “I guess the outcome will depend on where the independents land.” Cindy further wrote, “They should choose to learn about all candidates and make good choices in the primary elections.”

Since 2012, Idaho Republicans closed their primary to 270,000 independent voters who previously participated. It was deliberate. They knew that low voter turnout leads to manipulation by the central committee in candidate choice. Over time, more outsider-influenced candidates infiltrated the Legislature. They enacted unpopular laws that Idahoans disliked, because they no longer felt accountable to them. It’s still happening, and an increasing number of citizens are furious.

The solution will be on the November ballot: the Open Primaries Initiative. This initiative gives all legal voters in Idaho the opportunity to vote without being coerced into first joining a political party. It does not recommend or support any candidate. It is a nonpartisan, voters’ rights initiative only.

You’ll be hearing disinformation from the extremists about the purpose of the OPI. They’ll say it’s a socialist plot; that Idahoans are going to install foreigners into office; let unqualified people vote; or whatever they can think up out of sheer desperation. The hard truth is, they don’t want you to exercise your constitutional right to vote, because they want to retain their stranglehold on our Legislature. Don’t be fooled.

“We The People” must take back our voting power. Vote yes on the Open Primaries Initiative.
