Vernon L. Stenerson, beloved father, brother and friend, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 13, 2016.

Vern was born Jan. 23, 1947, in Cornell, Mich., to Angeline R. Lavalley.

Vern went to school in Lewiston and, upon graduating in 1965, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was deployed from San Diego to Vietnam in 1966 on the USS Enterprise.

He returned to northern Idaho and made his home in Pierce, where he worked as a logger. In addition to logging, Vern traveled to Alaska, where he worked in the fishing industry in Cordova, the oilfields in Prudhoe Bay and the shipyards in Dutch Harbor.

Vern will always be remembered for his quick wit and ability to make everyone laugh, wherever or whatever the situation. People gravitated to Vern because of his love and zest for life and laughter.

After a slight stroke, Vern returned to the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley in 2003. He remained active and never let his disability quench his wit and ability to make people laugh.

Vern was preceded in death by parents, Patrick J. Stenerson Sr. and Angeline R. Stenerson; infant daughter Denice Loranne; and brothers Bill Craven of Sequim, Wash., and Patrick Stenerson Jr. of Florence, Ore.

Survivors include sisters Myrna Craig of Ramona, Calif., and Ercel Winterbottom of Lewiston; brothers Charles Stenerson of Moscow, Neal Stenerson of Clarkston; and daughters Teri Ann Brinkly of Sidney, Mont., and Misty Stenerson of Pierce.

Please join our family and friends for a celebration of life from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Lewiston Community Center. Cookies, punch and coffee will be served.
