Thomas W. Hope Jr. passed away Monday, July 2, 2007, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, from complications of lung cancer.
Tom was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Birtley, England, to Thomas William Hope and Doris Clifford Hope. His family moved to the U.S. in September 1955. He graduated high school in Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1957, and began work for Southern California Edison, completing his lineman journeymanship in 1964. Tom was very proud of his 43 years of line work and all of his accomplishments during those years.
In 1960 he married his high school sweetheart, Martha (Marty) Ann McLain. They moved to Lewiston in 1967 where he went to work for Clearwater Power Co. as a lineman. He started with Washington Water Power (Avista Utilities) in 1968 and retired in 2000.
Tom enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, fishing, camping and boating. After retirement, he loved to travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Tenny.
He is survived by his wife, Marty Hope; sons, William Hope and wife Lorry of Clarkston, James Hope of Lewiston, and Erin Hope and wife Camilla of Spokane; his sister, Margaret Okinaka of Golieta, Calif.; his brother, Joseph Hope of Santa Maria, Calif.; his grandchildren, Leighton Hope, Danielle Hope and Zarah Hope; and numerous nephews and nieces.
