Theodore S. and Patrine Y. Tinjum will be together always; we will miss them terribly.
Ted was born May 28, 1939, in Ulen, Minn. He died Friday, July 26, 2024, from dementia and kidney failure.
Ted was the youngest of eight and will forever be “Teddy.” In school he was involved in American Legion Baseball, basketball and FFA, all of which he was very proud of. He graduated high school in 1957. Ted was attending the University of Minnesota when he and Pat met at a fraternity party. The rest is history.
Pat was born in Monticello, Minn., on Feb. 21, 1943. Bernard was her older brother and baby brother, Jerry, died in infancy.
Pat loved the Mississippi River and learned to cook and bake at a young age. Pat went to college for a year at Texas Christian, often noting, “It is a different world down there.”
Ted and Pat married on April 28, 1963, in Monticello, in the rain. They settled in Minneapolis, in a “bread-box” apartment. Shari was born in September 1963 and Jennifer was born in December 1966. They also cared for many foster babies, each one loved and adored by Pat.
The family lived in Burnsville, Minn., until 1975, when they moved to Montana for work. Ted and Pat moved to Glendive, Mont., where Ted worked at the Glendive Medical Center. They later settled in Clarkston where Ted worked for the Clarkston School District.
Following heart bypass surgery and a stroke in 2009, Pat’s health started to fail. She passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021. Ted never recovered from the devastation of losing his wife. We take comfort in knowing neither is in pain any longer and they are at peace. They are together again forever.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Signe; his brother Clayton; sister Ingaborg and brother Roger.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Oriole; brothers Bernard and baby Jerry.
Ted is survived by Helen Geizler (Loren), of Moorhead, Minn.; Eleanor Leibrand (Wil), of Hastings, Minn.; Bruce Tinjum (Linda), of Ulen; Virginia Johnson (Jerry), of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Marilyn Tinjum (Clayton), of Moorhead; Marilyn Tinjum (Roger), Detroit Lakes, Minn., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat is survived by niece Neva Banaei (John), Lynn Calger (Jeff) and nephew Bernerd Huseth (Gloria); daughters Shari (Eric) Bell, of Lewiston; Jennifer (Chad Godfrey) of Billings, Mont., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
We love you both and will miss you always.
There will be a memorial at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Atlanta Church in Ulen, Minn., with a viewing preceding the service at 1 p.m.
