Ron Slichter, 82, entered his eternal rest in his Lewiston home Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

Ronald Duane Slichter was born Jan. 7, 1942, to Melva (nee Lanningham) Slichter and Sam Slichter of Grangeville. Ron was the second born of seven children. Ron grew up in Grangeville on his family’s ranch, leading an exciting life of ranching, hunting and at some point, he took up amateur car racing. Anything Ron did it was with full gusto. Ron’s exceptional work ethic was like no other and it gained him much recognition throughout his life. Many who knew Ron knew him as one of the greatest loggers of the Pacific Northwest. His sawyer skills were witnessed all over the states of Idaho, Washington, Montana, Oregon and his most beloved state and what he called heaven on earth, Alaska. Ron stayed in this profession for many years and was still consulting for family and friends for their logging needs at the time of his death.

Ron married Lorraine (nee Anderson) in 1972 and was instantly blessed with four children from Lorraine’s previous marriage. In 1974, Ron and Lorraine were blessed again with another child they had together, Ronnie Sam.
