Robert A. Wood Sr. passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Pullman Regional Hospital in Pullman, surrounded by family.
Bob was born Dec. 14, 1917, to Charles and Daisy Wood in Clarkston. He graduated from Clarkston High School in 1935. He was drafted and joined the U.S. Army Air Forces to serve in World War II. After discharge, he relocated to Clarkston and married Nell Pearson of Clarkston. He was employed at the First National Bank of Idaho and retired as the bank manager in 1979 after 37 years.
He was active in the community, a member and treasurer of the United Methodist Church in Clarkston, and was involved in various volunteer organizations including the Lewiston Rotary Club, where he was nominated as a Paul Harris Fellow.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, walks around town, music and socializing with his many friends. Bob was known for his kindness, wonderful disposition, helpfulness and cheerful outlook. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
His surviving family includes two sons, Steve Wood (Jeanette) of Wenatchee and Robert A. Wood Jr. (Kathy) of Sterling Va.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Interment and graveside services were held Monday at the Vineland Cemetery, West Clarkston-Highland.
