Phillip Matthew Elizondo was born Dec. 28, 1969, in San Francisco. He passed away Aug. 3, 2012, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center at Lewiston.
Phil attended Bethel High School. He chose to end his formal education in his junior year to pursue his passion for music. Phil worked as a disc jockey in the Tacoma area for various businesses. He worked at the Outlaw Radio Station in Lewiston from 1998 to 2011 and was known on air as "Captain Phil Matthews." He also worked for Canters Inn as the karaoke DJ and for the Alibi as security.
Phil enjoyed music of all mediums, movies, NASCAR, video gaming, and had a passion for food. He loved all kinds of foods and was fond of spicy foods. He was a wiz at connecting video and audio equipment and was called upon by friends and family for his assistance.
Phil met Laurie Keller and began a life together. They later separated. There were two daughters from this union. He met Siwan Schwab in 1992 and they began a life together. He moved the family in 1998 to Lewiston. They separated in 2011, but maintained a close, trusting friendship.
Phil is survived by his daughters and their companions, Krystal Elizondo and Cody Delema of Lewiston, Amber Elizondo and Forrest Hamilton of Clarkston; his special friend, Siwan Schwab of Lewiston; his mother, Diane Murphy and grandmother Jenny Johnson of McKenna, Wash.; sisters and spouses, Diana and Dave Gregory of Sumner, Wash., Jennifer Mathews of Olympia; brothers and spouses, Mike and Melodee Dobbins of Bellingham, Wash., Billie and Deanna of Buckley, Wash.; two grandsons, John Elizondo and unborn grandson, Benjamin Matthew Elizondo; nephews and nieces, Krystopher Dobbins, Eva Chanel Elizondo, Breanna Matthews, Nicolas Rubiano, Jadzia Booth, Aviendha Booth, Colton Matthews, Cortney Matthews, Ashleigh Merriman, all of Washington; and by those he considered as his in-law family, father in-law, Larry Schwab, brother in-law, Larry (Rich) Schwab, mother in-law Mary Schwab, all of Lewiston; and many friends, acquaintances and his beloved dog Dottie.
At his request, cremation will take place. A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Canters Inn.
