Paulette A. Cone was born March 27, 1944, at Potlatch, to Vincent G. and Lucille Dixon Cone. She passed away Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at her home near Potlatch.
She attended Potlatch schools and graduated from Potlatch High School in 1962.
She worked as a retail sales clerk for JC Penney's in Lewiston for 34 years until poor health forced her retirement in 2004. She moved back to Potlatch in 2005 to be near her family.
Paulette never married or had children of her own but was a special aunt to her three nieces, Kelly Todish of Boise, Karla Musick of Potlatch and Kim Carpenter of Harvard; five nephews, John Cone of Roseville, Calif., Chuck Cone of Cheney, Wash., Duane Cone of Spokane, Kirk Todish of Princeton, and Bryan Osborne of Princeton; and their families, which include 19 great- nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed attending their sports events and school activities. She had tremendous talent in the kitchen and helped organize numerous food-related functions from kid's birthday parties to graduation celebrations, wedding receptions and family holiday dinners. Her potato salad and homemade cookies were almost famous at covered-dish dinners and family events. Another of her talents was sewing - from doll clothes, baby items, kids clothes, prom dresses, bridesmaids dresses, flower girl dresses, western outfits to any other creation she decided to make. She also enjoyed yard sales, clearance rack shopping, and card and casino games.
She is survived by one brother, Del Cone of Princeton; two sisters, Velda Ross and her husband Jerry of Princeton, and Linda Osborne and husband Cliff of Potlatch; and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Garoldine Kinman, in April.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Princeton Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Kathy Kramer officiating. A covered-dish luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Potlatch Memorial Sidewalk Fund or the Scenic Six Flag Fund c/o: K. Cada at U.S. Bank in Potlatch; or to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, c/o: the Latah Federal Credit Union, P.O. Box 264, Potlatch, ID 83855.
