Paul "Bunyan" Zenner, a lifetime farmer and rancher, died peacefully in sleep the morning of Saturday, March 3, 2018. Paul was born July 14, 1930, in Colton to J. Peter and Gertrude (Zellerhoff) Zenner. He was raised outside of Genesee on the breaks of the Clearwater River with four sisters, Eva, Marie, Pauline and Lucille; five brothers, Al, Andy, Joe, Harold, and twin brother Pete.
After getting most all of his education in Genesee, his family moved to a farm in the Craigmont area. Paul graduated from Craigmont High School in 1948 and went right to work on the family farm. He and his brother Pete were drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, and he served from Jan. 19, 1951, to Dec. 29, 1952. After coming back home to the farm, Paul met the love of his life, Jean Braun.
Paul and Jean were married Nov. 25, 1954, on Thanksgiving Day and spent the next 64 years happily married. With work being his love, life and hobby, Paul enjoyed hunting every November at the top of Coolwater Mountain with his brothers Joe, Pete, Harold and brother-in-law Fred Vogel. Paul loved taking his family on drives up into the mountains to enjoy the scenery, or along the rivers to stop, build a fire and have a picnic.
After retiring in 1992, he and Jean loved going to Arizona for the winters. During the summer months, he enjoyed driving around, making sure the work was being done, and pitching in and helping whenever he was needed. Paul would really enjoy the phone calls in the evenings that reported to him the work that got done that day.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jean Zenner; sons Greg (Tori) and Brad (Allason); and daughter Kim Carrington. In addition, Paul is survived by seven grandchildren: Clint, Casey and Devon Zenner, Mikayla and Kelsey Carrington, and Anita and Kade Zenner; and five great-grandchildren: Mick, Mylie, Rhett, Nicholas and Jerzey Zenner. Paul also is survived by brothers Joe, Pete and Harold Zenner, and sister Lucille Guettinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Al and Andy; sisters Eva, Marie and Pauline; and grandson Garrett Zenner.
