Oscar passed away in peace Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at the age of 93. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

He was born in LaGrande, Ore., to Walter and Gladys Bly. Later the family moved to Asotin where he graduated from Asotin High School in 1948. After graduation Oscar went on to join the United States Marine Corp. where he had a successful and decorated career. While in the Corps, he held nine enlisted ranks as well as three officer ranks, eventually retiring as a captain, after a combined 30 years of service. During his military career he served 18 months in Korea as well as three tours of duty in Vietnam.

Oscar is survived by his wife: Jennifer, sons: Doug and Christopher Bly, daughter: Trudy Bly, step-daughters: Sarita Marie and Geralyn Nelson. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Gladys, brothers: Aubry, Manley, Merle and Jesse Bly as well as his daughter: Carla Jensen.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at Merchant Funeral Home, 1000 Seventh St., Clarkston. A reception will follow at the Asotin Lions Club, 118 Second St., Asotin.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Idaho State Veterans Home in Lewiston.
