ObituariesMay 10, 2024

It is with fond remembrance that we share the passing of Michael Allen Miller. Mike passed peacefully Sunday, April 28, 2024, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was 69. Mike was born at Gritman Memorial Hospital in Moscow on May 17, 1954, to Floyd and Mable Miller. Mike was raised in Juliaetta and there he attended Kendrick High School until joining the U.S. Army.

Mike served in the U.S Army for six years and while in the Army he achieved his high school diploma and became a specialist in helicopter maintenance and repair. Mike served in Korea for a year of his service and then was stationed in Alaska. After leaving the Army, Mike made his career as a forester, working for the Idaho Department of Lands for 18 seasons. He loved being in the woods and enjoyed the solitary life where he mapped locations of abandoned mines, fought forest fires and maintained trials. Toward the end of his career Mike worked for a short time with the City of Moscow before setting up a home in Kendrick and working at the Hillbilly Bar and Grill before retiring to Lewiston.

Mike enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a member of the VFW. He was very proud of his time in the service and enjoyed working closely with pilots to make sure the helicopters stayed safe and “flew right!”
