Mary Kathleen Thompson

On May 9, 2019, we lost a beautiful and loving wife, mother and friend. Mary Kathleen “Kathy” Thompson peacefully passed away at Gritman Medical Center in Moscow, surrounded by loved ones.

Kathy was born at her grandparents’ home on Jan. 29, 1943, in Sanders, Idaho. She attended Plummer High School and graduated in 1961.

Kathy worked in various retail locations for 30 years here in Moscow, and also enjoyed taking some college courses at the University of Idaho. Kathy’s greatest love in life was being in the company of family and friends. She had the loyal heart of a giver and went out of her way to make you feel welcome at their home. She had a very strict “the door is always open” policy, but as all the kids would tell you, that’s the only thing she was strict about. She loved family gatherings, but was also content to be at home reading.

Kathy was a fun-loving woman, whose passions included traveling, gardening, coloring, cross-stitching and embroidery, crocheting and shopping. She was playful and young-at-heart, and if you didn’t watch out, she’d get ya with her squirt gun!

Kathy was preceded in death by parents Curt and Lilly Magers and sister Shannon Zimmerman. Her kind spirit lives on in the hearts of her loving husband, Mert; daughters and sons-in-law Pam and Scott, Beth and Joe, Donna, and Lisa and Evan; grandchildren Amy, Adam, Jake, Kent, Kurt, Wyatt, Connor, Brittney, RyAnn, Cole, Ryan and Eli; and nine great-grandchildren.

All are welcome to join the family at 1 p.m. Friday, May 17, in the Moscow Eagles Lodge for a celebration of life for this amazing lady.
