The funeral for Mary K. Humphreys, 90, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 9, at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse. Father Edgar Borchardt will officiate. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery, Steptoe, Wash.

Mrs. Humphreys passed away Thursday morning, April 5, 2007, at Pullman Regional Hospital from causes related to age.

She was born Jan. 26, 1917, at Moscow, to Burban and Zelia Byron Wells. She attended school in Palouse and graduated from Palouse High School in 1935. Mary attended college for two years in Boise.

She married James Humphreys on June 23, 1937, at Newport, Wash. The couple made their home at Palouse.

Mary was employed at the University of Idaho at the Student Union Building from 1955 to 1980, when she retired after 25 years of service as manager of food service at the college. Mr. Humphreys worked in construction and he died in 1991. Mary continued to live at Palouse until she moved to Bishop Place in Pullman in 2001.

She was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, and was an excellent seamstress.

Survivors include one son, Michael Humphreys of Walla Walla; four daughters, Jacqueline Foster of Mountlake Terrace, Wash., Jean Lewallen of Spokane, Jane Gagg of Las Vegas, and Julia Raymond of Fruitport, Mich.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse, is in charge of the arrangements.
