Edna Martin, 95, lifetime resident of the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, passed away Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at her home, Unique Senior Care.

Mary Edna Martin was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Cottonwood, to Martha and Edgar Brown. She was the fourth of six children.

The family moved to Asotin, where she started school, graduating from Asotin High School in 1947.

Edna married LaVerne Forgey on July 3, 1947, in Asotin, where they made their home and raised their son Lynn and daughter Vickie. They divorced in 1969.

Edna married Wayne Martin on Feb. 12, 1971, in Lewiston. She was blessed with three bonus children from this marriage: Tanya, Kathye and Cecil. They farmed on Cottonwood Creek until Wayne passed away in February 1986.

Edna moved to Lewiston a few years later and then to Clarkston before moving to Unique Senior Care four years ago.

Edna worked most of her life, in retail early in her life, and then as a bookkeeper, retiring from the Lewiston Grain Growers.

Edna enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, reading and travel. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she always put them first.

Edna is survived by her brother Robert L. Brown, son Lynn L. Forgey (Nargiza), daughter Vickie Storey (Bill Provost), son Cecil Martin (Sandy), 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Shelton Brown and Donald Brown, sisters Audrey Crabb and Jean Brown, and daughters Tanya Viers and Kathye Ingram.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at Orchards United Methodist Church, 1213 Burrell Ave., Lewiston.
