Marlene Valliant passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014, at her home with family by her side.
She was born Feb. 8, 1948, in Clarkston, to Edward and Mildred Heese. She grew up in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley, attending several elementary schools and Lewiston High School. In 1966, Marlene married her high school sweetheart, Mike Valliant. They relocated to Everett, Wash., for a short time while Mike worked construction, then returned to the valley. In 1980, the family moved to Culdesac, where Marlene raised animals, helped with the ranch and was the owner/operator of the Saddle Club for 12 years. She was well-liked and one of the best bartender/bar owners on the prairie. After retiring and the loss of her husband, Marlene moved back to Lewiston.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Mike; son Colin Valliant; mother Mildred Heese; brother Dennis Heese; and best friend/sister-in-law, Janet Heimgartner.
She is survived by her father, Edward Heese; daughter Colleen Edmison (Jim); grandchildren Zack and Taylor Edmison and Steven Davis; and adopted daughter Shannon McIntosh, all of Lewiston.
There will be a memorial to celebrate Marlene from 1 to 4 p.m. July 26 at the Eagles Lodge in Lewiston.
